Avenues provides tailor made human resource and financial supports. This means that you can choose the types of supports you want — it really is up to you. We can help you with support for the recruitment, scheduling, interviewing, monitoring, training, and/or payroll for personal assistants.

People use Passport funds to purchase supports and develop plans. The individual and their family may choose to contract with someone to provide direct support. This person would help the individual to participate in community activities, volunteer, engage in recreation opportunities, or to do everyday tasks. The family and individual can manage these funds themselves. The Avenues Program assists families and individuals to do this.

If an adult with a developmental disability wants to become more active in their community the Developmental Services Ontario agency (DSO) can help them to apply for community participation supports.  This funding can be administered with the help of a designated agency or the family and individual can manage it themselves.  The Avenues program helps people who are managing their own funds.
