Respite Options in Waterloo Region
In Waterloo Region, nine developmental service agencies offer a variety of respite programs, both in-home and out-of-home. These programs serve people of varying ages with a variety of different needs and interests. | Admission Criteria : | North Lodge is a large residence housing 13 participants. This home is generally staffed from 4pmto 8am Monday to Friday and 24 hours on the weekend. There are five staff during the week and four on weekends during the day. There are two awake staff members working overnight. The respite bed is suitable to adults who would be identified in the mid functioning range. Care such as assistance with bathing, toiletting, and communication needs can be met. This is an accessible site for those who are non ambulatory; however, all respite guests must be able to transfer themselves in and out of their wheelchair to the bed, couch etc, or be able to weight bare for transfers. Respite guests of North Lodge should not require total care or have behavioural concerns requiring intervention practices. |

| Comments : | Respite guests need to be aware that this is a large residence and the noise and activity level reflect a busy environment for guests to deal with. 1:1 supports will be an additional cost. |
