In Waterloo Region, nine developmental service agencies offer a variety of respite programs, both in-home and out-of-home. These programs serve people of varying ages with a variety of different needs and interests. The Medically Fragile and/or Technologically Dependent (MFTD) program is specifically aimed at children up to the age of 18 who meet Community Care Access Center’s (CCAC) MFTD eligibility requirements. Children who have an MFTD designation are eligible for additional respite funding along with their Special Services at Home. Extend-A-Family also administers the MFTD Seasonal Respite Program to provide extra out-of-home respite over the summer, March Break and other seasonal periods. EAFWR support coordinators work closely with other community partners to enhance individualized respite options for the families. |
