About Us

respiteservices.com consists of agencies funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services .  We are collaborating to develop a more dynamic respite network for both children and adults in the counties of Hastings and Prince Edward.

Mission

“respiteservices.com working together to facilitate respite options that empower individuals with differing abilities and their families to lead active and rewarding lives.”

 Vision

Creating Community Connections”

The guiding principles of respiteservices.com are:

1. To develop a comprehensive respite system in Hastings and Prince Edward.
2. To develop and maintain a database of respite information for families of children and adults requiring respite options.
3. To work closely with service providers to advocate for appropriate service options to meet the needs identified.

Respite care is a family support service that provides temporary relief from the physical and emotional demands involved in caring for a family member who has a disability. Respite creates greater opportunities for all family members to live actively and participate in community activities and allows parents/guardians time for themselves.

Private Respite Provider Database

The Private Respite Provider Database is an integral part of respiteservices.com.
This Program (otherwise known as the CHAP Program) was developed through a partnership of Geneva Centre for Autism and Bloorview MacMillan Children's Centre. The Respite Provider Database Program aims to recruit a large base of providers interested in supporting persons with a developmental disability including autism and/or physical disability to provide meaningful respite opportunities through community based options.
