The purpose of the CHAP Program is to make the process of finding and hiring/contracting services from an respite provider easier for families. The CHAP Program is a free resource for families (or other representative) of individuals with developmental disabilities.
The CHAP Program does not make referrals. Rather, it facilitates connections between families and respite providers who have joined the Worker Registry and may be available for hiring/contracting. You independently interview and choose your own provider. It is important to understand that a respite providers in the CHAP registry are not employees of the CHAP Program, respiteservices.com, or Northumberland Family Respite Services (host agency). The terms of employment relationship are entirely between family & respite provider. By using the service, you are under no obligation to hire/contract any provider and you can de-activate your registration at any time. Have more questions? Check out the FAQs.
